"FOLKADELIC" music to cure what
ails you
-- acoustic folk/blues --
"Folkadelic," Frank Sipes terms the melodies that he
and partner Debbie Hutchins perform. When asked what "folkadelic"
means, he replies, "It's a feel-good music, a hybrid
which draws on a range of styles from folk to blues to country
with tinges of rock, jazz and funk." Listeners claim the
band evokes the essence of the San Francisco folk
scene—blended into harmonies uniquely Good Medicine's. They
weave a tapestry of American musical roots from early blues
masters such as Robert Johnson to contemporary songwriters
including Kris Kristofferson, John Prine and Bob Dylan, as
well as Sipes' and Hutchins' own compositions.
"We steal from good places and put it all together in a
different combination," Debbie remarks. "People
often recognize the songs but not our arrangement of
them."
"People can hang with us," Frank continues,
"shut out the rest of the world, unbutton their collars,
let their shoulders down. Our age, the mom-and-pop look, seems
to put our audience at ease. And the music does as much for us
as it does for listeners."
